The beautiful ramparts are one of the most distinctive and beautiful pieces of architecture in this wonderful medieval city. Construction of the walls took place between the 11th and the 13th Century and were designed to protect the city against the warrior kings of France who always attempted to invade the settlement. A great deal of restoration work has been undertaken in the last few decades to bring them back to their former glory.
