This interesting area of the city has a long and colourful history. Although at one stage it was home to the oldest part of the city walls, things have changed over the many centuries, on several occasions the walls being lost completely and buried. However, the area around this street are some of the most historic in Orléans and no one can deny the importance of the area to the growth of the town as it is nearby that the Eiffel workshops were based, associated of course with the designer of the Eiffel Tower.
