Two rivers meet at the heart of the community, the Douze and the Midouze, eventually taking the name of just the latter as the flow on their way. The confluence is important to the history of the town, bringing life and transport to the area and irrigation to the surrounding countryside. It is a fine walk you can take along the banks of the river, taking in firstly the man made sites of the town centre and latterly the wonderful natural beauty of the countryside.
