This public warehouse would have been one of many large places of storage when Narbonne was a Roman town. Lost for many centuries, it has only been recently that many of the architectural marvels that the Romans gave to the area have begun to be fully discovered. These cellars are adorned with interesting paintings that have been dated back to the 1st Century and are well worth a look, even if just to get out of the sweltering summer heat underground to a cooler environment.
