This amazing 5 metre high replica of Michelangelo’s ‘David’ stands at the centre of the busy roundabout where Avenue George-Pompidou meets Avenue Prabo. The art work was designed and crafted by Jules Cantini and presented to the city as a gift in 1903. The strong marble structure is a powerful sight as you enter the ‘beach’ area of the city. Although one would have to travel across the border to Florence in Italy to find the original, this is a worthy homage.
