Metz has a large and fascinating looking synagogue in the north-east of the old town area. The town has had a long and interesting relationship with the Jewish community, one which was somewhat soured by the actions of the Nazi’s in the Second World War. However, since that terrible time, there has been a great effort by the Jewish and Christian communities to work together in building understanding between the religions. This synagogue is a symbol of the success of the project in Metz.
