When the old city area of Puy St. Front was fully fortified it had twenty eight lookout towers surrounding the battlements, giving it an almost impenetrable quality and frightening off many aggressive armies. This interesting piece of military architecture is the only of the twenty eight that still remains. The tower was changed into its present shape and size in the late 15th Century and now is a popular visitor attraction in the old city.
