The town hall is a building that is considered to be extremely important by the people of this suburb, even more so than usual in the French towns where devolved power is of great magnitude. The reason being, the community is fiercely defensive of its identity from the larger city of Paris, into which it has been pulled by ribbon growth. The high facades of the hall and the proud name of the borough emblazoned on the front of the building remind people that they are from the locality, not the city.
