The Triumphant Arch is not quite as grand as that one which is found at the heart of Paris, but in its own way is just as interesting and pleasing to the eye. Erected in the 18th Century, it celebrates a series of great French military victories, especially that at Fontenoy. The arch has been carefully crafted to be both strong and powerful from a distance, and delicate and beautiful up close, which is why it is so popular to look at.
