The underground galleries are one of the anomalies of this beautiful medieval city. Shrouded in mystery, it is not entirely clear how they came about or for what purpose they were originally used. There is a great deal of speculation amongst historians on this issue. It is well worth taking a look inside the galleries to see the vast complex of caves that have been dug under the city, many parts of which have ancient graffiti on the side walls.
