An abattoir is quite an unlikely place to find a museum or gallery, but after the closure of the main slaughterhouse in the city of Toulouse, this large building was quickly developed into a first class art facility. Today, the museum is one of the best respected contemporary art centres in the country. It has a large permanent collection of modern art in the form of paintings, sculptures and installation pieces. The centre also has regular visiting exhibitions from across Europe.
