There is little doubt that this is one of the most interesting and beautiful buildings in the heart of Rouen. Built over a period of about ten years in the middle of the 16th Century, it consists of a series of beautifully carved wooden frames. Each of the beams and timbers has been handcrafted into an individual piece of artwork, reminding visitors of their mortality, with skulls, crossbones and daggers. The building is open to the public throughout the year.
