The River Aveyron flows through the town and is where the prefecture takes its name from. The river is a lovely natural and pastoral sight, surrounded by a great deal of fine man made buildings and structures that line the banks in the centre. If one follows the river path out of the town, you will see the way that the landscape drastically changes and the river attracts more plants and animals, and the views that you see are those of nature.
