Saint Malo Chateau is probably the most impressive structure in the city. Built many hundreds of years ago, it would have been the home of the governor of the city, safely tucked away within the fortifications of the city walls. Like much of the area, the chateau was damaged by the extensive fighting between the Allies and the Nazi’s at the end of the Second World War, but has been repaired and is now open to the public to be viewed daily.
