The chateau is one of the centrepieces of the town, and casts a shadow across the very historic inner circle of the medieval community. The chateau of course would have once been the home to aristocrats, and like many of these great buildings risked destruction during the French Revolution, before being relatively completely restored to its former glory in recent times. It is open to the public throughout the summer.
