Georges Labat founded this museum in the late 19th Century. He loved to travel to the furthest reaches of the world in search of examples of little known and misunderstood civilisations. He had a particular fascination with the east and the oriental people that he encountered. Covering more than three thousand years of history, this museum brings together artworks, sculptures, artefacts and documents that relate to China, Japan, Thailand, Tibet and many other countries.
