The Mariners Chapel is as you might expect from the name, dedicated to the people who have and do go to sea and risk their lives for food and trade. In the past a great many of the towns men used to be involved in the seafaring industries, and this fine looking historic building is a testament to just how dangerous these jobs were. It was required to have a specific church to pray for the souls of these men, many of whom never returned.
