This extremely grand monumental arch stands at the end of one of the major streets in the city of Toulouse. It was erected in 1918 to honour the many men that were lost during the ferocious fighting of the First World War. The piece was created by more than one architect and is a major landmark in the area. The sides of the columns have been carved with many of the names of the people who so bravely fought to defend freedom in Europe.
