Constructed in 1893, the Music Stand is one of the centrepieces of the green area in the heart of the town. It was designed to be a focal point around which the local people could meet and enjoy live music in the beautiful surroundings. As it happens, that is what it is still being used for today, and throughout the summer months a regular series of concerts are put on by the local authority for the benefit of locals and visitors alike.
