During the Second World War this beautiful building which has served as the law courts for Rouen for many centuries was extensively damaged by shelling. However, like much of Rouen that was damaged, the local authorities and people have thrown themselves into making it look even better than ever. The amazing 16th Century Gothic façade has been fully restored, and once again this vast palace is one of the great buildings in this area of France.
