The walls around this community have stood in place for well over five hundred years, and at the time of their construction and the many hundreds of years after that, were an important part of the defence of the chateaus and people that stood within the walls. Today, of course the walls are not needed for defence, but they not only stand as a reminder of these turbulent times in Europe, but act as a good walkway and vantage point to enjoy views of the community.
