The Vienne River has been important in the building of this community. It is of course the life force that allowed a settlement in this area at all. But as time has gone on, the role of the river has changed. In the middle ages it acted as a line of defence for the town against attacks from marauding armies. Once again today, the river has a new purpose, a place to walk along the banks and enjoy the beauty of the area, framed by the flow of the current.
