Saint Amable Basilica is one of the finest religious buildings in the town, and the large grey stone tower that supports the front of the large church is one of the symbols of the region. The fine structure was begun in around the early 13th Century and of course took many decades to complete. Interestingly, a great deal of the impressive marble that one finds on the building was added in the 18th Century, but has been well blended into the original style.
