A great deal of the old city of Saint Malo was destroyed during the intense fighting at the end of the Second World War in 1944. However, the people and the authorities of the area have worked hard to restore most of it to its former glory, including the grand centrepiece, St. Vincent Cathedral. The marvellous old building towers above the old town, originally begun in the 11th Century it is well known for the striking interior features and Celtic feel.
