The most visited attraction in the town is the magnificent Chateau Valencay which was built in 1540 and remains one of the most interesting buildings in the area. Surrounded by a brilliant set of cultured gardens, the chateau has had a long history which has seen it pass through a number of hands. Most notable, was when a Scottish banker John Law bought in in the 19th Century, considered a very strange move by the French at the time.
