The Citadel was built in 1557 by Emanuel Phillibert, who at the time was the Duke of Savoy. The fine looking piece of military architecture is certainly one of the most recognisable features of the town, and is open to the public throughout the year to browse through. There is a wealth of military and social history associated with the large building to get to know about, and there are some fine views available from the top.
