The Courtyard of the Provost was constructed in the 13th Century and was designed as a residence for the Bishop and the provosts of the cathedral. During the 14th Century there was still a direct link between the building and the cathedral, meaning that the clergy did not have to go outside into the village to go about their business. The building is covered in Gothic style motifs and is an excellent example of architecture from this period.
