Gabriel Joseph de Froment d’Argilliers was the Baron of Castille and was born in Uzes in 1747. He had a long love affair with the town and it seemed only a matter of time before he would build a magnificent private residence for himself and his family in the community. Inspired by a love for pillars which he had seen across the world on his extensive travels he decided to model his own house on these principles. The magnificent result is this house that stands proudly at the heart of the town centre.
