Without a doubt one of the most famous buildings in France and probably the world, this vast castle was built in the mid 17th Century during the reign of King Louis XIV, the sun king. The amazing structure took 30,000 men to construct and reflects the great vision of grandeur that Louis had for France, unwilling to settle for anything but the very best. The castle has undergone some minor changes in the last few hundred years, most notably which the furniture was stolen during the French Revolution, so some of the interior is more modern than it should be.
