This tower is one of the few remaining guarding points for the old walled city in Vannes. At one point in the Middle Ages, this would have been one of the most important buildings in the city as it would have offered the first chance to guard the city against an attacking army. The view from the tower is today enjoyed by tourists and visitors, simply because it is beautiful, and not to see armies coming. It is one of the best spots in the area to see the countryside and city in one.
