Vichy has a very interesting political and social history that is best seen on foot, walking through the old town, exploring the buildings where some of the significant actions took place. Starting at the Tourist Centre on Rue du Parc, throughout the summer months, experienced guides take visitors on multi-lingual tours around the area. You will see amongst many other things the headquarters of the Vichy Government that oversaw the occupied southern areas of France in World War Two.
