The Arena is one of the main venues for entertainment in the city of Bayonne. It is rarely used throughout the winter months because it is completely open air and the spectators are somewhat exposed to the elements. It is most famous for hosting bullfighting in the summer. The controversial sport is popular in this area of the world where there is s much a Spanish influence as there is French on the Basque region.
