This large museum is one of the better attractions at the heart of Orleans. The idea behind the museum is to trace the history of the city and the region by studying and displaying some of the archaeological finds that have been made in the last few centuries. There are artefacts on display that date back many thousands of years and are used to tell the colourful story of the foundations of Orleans and the way the culture and people have changed and developed from a primitive settlement to one of the more advanced communities in France.
