The library is not what you would expect from a normal lending library in a city. It is effectively a museum that is dedicated to the masses of ancient manuscripts that have been collected over the centuries by the local authority. There are pieces from as far back as the 12th Century which are some of the most beautiful works you will ever see, carefully hand drawn and illuminated, a far cry from official documents of today’s world.
