This large cemetery has been receiving the dead of Paris since 1824. It has since that time become one of the most well known places of burial in the city and has many famous residents. Among some of the illustrious names who are buried on this site are Samuel Becket, André Citroen, Alfred Dreyfus, Simone de Beauvoir, Serge Gainsborough, Jean Paul Sartre and many more.
